Composite cross arm insulator performs two types of functions, except having the function of fixing conductors and insulation to the ground, composite cross arm insulator can also full replace or part replace iron cross arm or wood cross arm.
Advantages of polymer cross arm insulator:
As one type of composite insulator, polymer cross arm insulator was developed to save crossarm material, such as iron, cement, or wood. Polymer cross arm insulator can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and this can decrease the tower height and simplify the structure of the tower, so polymer cross arm insulator can greatly save the construction cost.
Now, composite cross arm insulator is replacing traditional porcelain cross arm insulator in many countries. Composite cross arm insulator is mainly used under 110kv transmission lines, especially for 6-35kv distribution lines.
Composite cross arm insulator characters:
One end fitting with holes can be fixed onto the electrical poles, replace the traditional crossarm, save cost.
One end fitting with grooves can fix conductor onto the crossarm high voltage insulator, which replace traditonal pin insulators.
Cross arm insulators comprise both advantage of steel cross arm and insulators, save one cost on steel and to save great money on the whole structure.
Composite cross arm insulator also has advantage of high anti-pollution quality because of the silicone rubber characters.
